Eli Lilly licensed global rights, excluding South Korea, to Hanmi Pharm's investigational long-acting GLP-2 analogue sonefpeglutide across multiple indications, under a deal potentially worth around $1.2 billion.

The therapy, which is currently in Phase II development for the treatment of short bowel syndrome (SBS)-associated intestinal failure, employs Hanmi's LAPSCOVERY platform technology, enabling once-monthly subcutaneous administration.

Hanmi will continue to conduct the ongoing global SBS study, dubbed DOLPHINS-2, while Lilly will explore additional clinical trials for sonefpeglutide based on its non-clinical and clinical data.

Under the agreed terms, Lilly will make an upfront payment of $75 million, with Hanmi eligible to receive up to $1.185 billion in milestones, as well as sales royalties.
